Constructed of 6061 aluminum, the Microdot advanced sight is designed for use on shotguns and other heavy recoil firearms.  The Black finish is a ceramic coating adding to the resilience of the Microdot.  Water resistance has been improved over previous models.  For example, the Turret Caps, which are now aluminum instead of plastic, tighten down for metal-to-metal contact around the o-rings.  By doing so, the waterproofing is improved significantly.  Adjustment to the windage and elevation is made when the turret caps are removed.

Lastly, the MicroDot Advanced Sight (MD-RB-AD) come with a 1913 MIL STD removable Picatinny base.  By removing the base, the body of the scope will be compatible with industry-standard micro mount systems.  The scope will be mounted correctly on a vast array of firearms.
